State FSSAI License Renewal

State FSSAI license renewal is applicable for all food business operators whose turnover is between 12 lakh and 20 crore. The FSSAI license renewal fee depends on the eligibility of the food business and the validity of the license.

Central FSSAI License Renewal

A food business operator with a turnover of more than 20 crore comes under the FSSAI central license. They must obtain a central FSSAI license renewal before the expiry of their validity.

For State or Central FSSAI License:

• Duly filled and signed Form B
• Photo and address proof of Proprietor/Partner/Director(s)/Authorized Signatory
• Layout plan of the food processing plant
• List of Directors with address and contact details
• ID and address proof of the above persons
• List of food categories (for manufacturers)
• Authority letter from the manufacturer for the authorized person
• NOC from Municipality or other local body
• Name and number of equipment as per installed capacity and horsepower
• Partnership deed/proprietorship affidavit or MOA and AOA (for companies)
• Source details of raw materials for meat, milk, and related products (if applicable)
• Hotel industry certificate from the Ministry of Tourism (if applicable)
• Pesticide residue report of water (for packaging of mineral water, carbonated beverages, etc.)
• Certificate from the Ministry of Commerce for 100% EOU (for central license)
• IEC Registration Documents issued by DGFT (for central license)
• Proof of turnover (for central license)
• Water analysis report (for central license)
• Possession proof (Electricity bill, Sales deed, etc.) (for central license)
• A cancelled cheque

Procedure for FSSAI License Renewal

FSSAI license renewal can be done both online and offline.

Online Procedure for FSSAI License Renewal

Online renewal of a food license is the simplest method. The food business operator must follow specific steps to complete the process. Upon successful submission, the license will be issued within 30-60 days.

1. Create a User ID and Password on the FSSAI portal.
2. Log in and apply using the credentials.
3. Upload the required documents for renewal.
4. Upon submission, an Application Reference Number is generated to track the renewal status.

Note: The User ID generated for FSSAI renewal is valid only for 30 days, so the applicant must complete the application within this period.

Offline Procedure for FSSAI License Renewal

The renewal process can also be done offline by following these steps:

1. Based on business eligibility, renew the FSSAI License by filling Form A, B, or C:
   • Form A - Renewal of Basic Food License
   • Form B - Renewal of State or Central License
2. Submit a self-attested declaration to comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA).
3. The authority reviews the application and inspects the food business premises.
4. Upon successful inspection and compliance verification, the officer submits the report for approval.
5. Within 60 days, the FSSAI Renewal License is issued. If not issued within this time, the FBO can continue business operations.

Additional Requirements for FSSAI License Renewal

• Audit Report, FSMS Plan, Certificates, and Self-Declaration regarding Food Safety Management System compliance on the official letterhead.
• Form IX (Nomination of Persons) must be filled as per the prescribed format.
• Declaration by the Authorized Signatory confirming compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, Hygiene, and Sanitary Practices.
• Compliance with Schedule 4 of the Registration and Licensing Regulations and other subsequent rules issued by the authority must be ensured.

Consequences of Not Renewing the Food License on Time

If the FSSAI renewal application is not submitted within the stipulated period, the food business operator (FBO) will be charged a penalty of 100 per day.

Timely renewal is crucial, as an FSSAI license expires if not renewed within the validity period. To avoid penalties and operational disruptions, FBOs must apply for renewal at least 30 days before the expiration of the registration or license.
