Get BIS CRS Certification with Fastzeal
The BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018, Scheme-Il governs the CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme). The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (Meity) established the CRS Scheme in 2012. Under this scheme, producers must get a BIS CRS Certificate for their electronic products before releasing them into the market. The foundation for this scheme was based on self-declaration of conformity by manufacturers. In recent years, there has been a notable increase in the quantity of permits granted under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS).
Additionally, in October 2012, the Electronics & Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021, covering 15 product categories of electronic devices and components, was issued in a notification by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. They also notified the addition of 15 new electronic product categories were added by Meity on 13 November 2014. Additionally, the Indian Standard specified in the order for Indian Language Support for Mobile Phones was issued by the Ministry in October 2016.
Under this directive, the Ministry introduced 13 more categories of electronics product categories notified by the Ministry in August 2017. In September 2017, the products under Solar Photovoltaics, Systems, Devices & Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017 was amended by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to include five more goods for manufacture or store for sale of electronic goods.
No person must, in accordance with the order, produce, store for sale, import, or distribute any goods which do not conform with the Indian Standard as prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS Act) and do not bear the Standard Mark.
What is BIS Certification for India?
Manufacturers must get BIS registration (CRS) for some items or BIS certification (ISI) under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS) to export to India. For these items to be introduced and sold in the Indian market, the BIS Certification is required. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) issues BIS Certification with a unique registration number obtained in India or BIS Registration to guarantee the reliability, safety, and quality of items that meet Indian Standards (IS).
Understanding CRS
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology originally implemented the Compulsory Registration Scheme, or CRS, for electronic and IT products. There are 76 goods covered by this scheme as of now. Any person or company that manufactures, imports, manufactures, stores, sells, or distributes goods or electronic devices under the product list is required to register for BIS CRS Registration. Those who manufacture electronics and information technology goods are required to apply for this registration after having their products examined in labs recognised by the BIS.
Subsequently, companies that are permitted to declare that their articles conform to the Indian Standards are registered by BIS under the BIS CRS Registration Scheme. The BIS CRS Registration is given to the applicant, and upon successful registration, the company is authorised to use the Standard Mark.
